About Jayashree >> Her Achievements

Jayashree has established 'Nrithyodaya - the academy of performing arts at Mumbai in 1976 and successfully trained boys and girls in Bharata Nrityam - a brilliant synthesis of Marga Technique of Indian Dance with the Desi technique of Bharata Natyam.

She has enriched the Bharata Nrityam repertoire with Marathi Abhangs & Padams, Hindi Thumris & Bhajans, Gujarati Sastriya Pada and Lok Sangeet, Oriya geet, Bengali Rabindra Sangeet, apart from having created special musical structure for the Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada & malayalam lyrics in keeping with her Guru's style where music & movements blend to create visual mucic.

She has adapted chosen 'Doha' & Chaupayee from Tulsi Ramayan to a Varna Mettu to create a padavarna describing the meeting os Rama & Sita, culminating in Seeta Swayamvara. Even as the use of carnatic & Hindustani Ragas is the unique feature of the music, the use of Adavus & Karanas lend a speciality in choreography through vaktartha abhinaya.

Her research and study of the 5th chapter of Natya Sastra, resulted in the choreography of a Citra Purvaranga adaptable for various dance dramas.

Popularised throgh Bharata Nrityam, two important aspects of the culture of Western India.
' The Mahavira Janmabhishek' - the birth of Tirtankara Mahavira, in Gujarati.
Bhakta Sakha Vitthala, the episodes from the Varkari Sants of maharashtra where the Lord came to their aid as Sakha, in the Marathi Language.

Composed and tuned different Pushpanjali, Kauthwam and Tillana

Staged several students in Arangetram, in group ensemble & dance dramas, they have qualified from N. Praveshika, Visharada & Shali Courses.

Presented 'Abhijnana Shakuntalam', 'Kamayani', 'Bhakta Sakha Vitthala' & 'Chandalika' in the lines of ancient Indian Theatre.

Presented oneness of the Desis through the mefium of Bharata Nrityam, Odissi, Mohini Attam, Kathak, Manipuri, Kuchipudi.

Presented folk dances of India

Conducted a 3 day 'Rajata Mahotsava' the Silver Jubilee celebration of nrithyodaya, Mumbai, with dance programmes, music concerts & lecture demonstrations by emenent experts & Nrith Artistes.
