Her lecture - demonstrations for major universities
and organisations have evoked spontaneous
acclaim.
She has completed the Nritya Visharad and
the Nrithyashali specialising in the study
of the 108 Karanas of Natya Sastra. She has
had specialised training in Nattuvangam (conducting
a classical dance performance by reciting
rhythmic syllables and playing the cymbals)
and make-up technique. She has had training
in Indian Classical Music and has even scored
music for some of her numbers.
She is a graduate in drawing and painting.
Her Ph. D research is on “Aharya Abhinaya”-
a subject dealing with the external elements
of communication like make-up, costume, jewellery,
stage props and scenery as delineated in the
Natya Sastra.
She has been awarded the Senior Research
Fellowship from the Department of Culture,
Govt. of India, for a comparative study of
Marga Tala System of Tiruppugazh of Tamil
Nadu and Manipur.
She is an empanelled artiste of ICCR and
also a graded artiste of Doordarshan. She
has participated in all the episodes of her
Guru’s T.V. Serial “Bharatiya
Natya Sastra”, commissioned by Doordarshan,
New Delhi. She is the chief examiner for dance
in the Faculty of Performing Arts, Pune University.
She was a member of the committee of Kalidasa
Academy, Ujjain, M.P.
Her research articles on dance and painting
have been published in research journals and
magazines.
She has been honoured with the titles of
“Yashasvita”, “Shivali Nritya
Shiromani” & “Bharata Nritya
Choodamani” in Mumbai & “Guru
Seva Mani” in Chennai.
